Proxies | Groovin' Over Beirut

£20.00

Label: CVR
Genre: New Wave
Release: 1983
Country: Greece
Grading: VG+/VG+ (12” LP)

As part of the emerging alternative rock/post-punk movement, Proxies formed in 1978 (Thessaloniki, Greece). Well known locally for playing covers of Roxy Music, Talking Heads and other new wave bands. Eventually, in 1983 their debut album, “Groovin’ over Beirut“ was released and recorded at the CVR studios together with engineer Kostas Kosmatopoulos (RIP). Bitzenis and Trihakis then went to the UK to study and almost signed to Virgin Records, who loved their music. Unfortunately, they had to return to Greece for military service, and the dream was over…at least for a brief spell. Glossy record and clean labels. Sleeve has light crease on bottom left front cover and remnants of a price sticker on top right. Closer to NM.
