Algerian singer Cherchab Mohamed a.k.a. Cheb Zahouani, started as an accordionist for the prominent Cheb Khaled, then moved on to build his solo career throughout the 80s. In 1988, he exploded on the international Raï scene due to his blasphemous Ramadan hit “Moul el Bar” (The Barman of Ornan), which propelled him to stardom throughout North Africa.
